The
motorcycle, dirt bike, or scooter carrier simply slides
into a conventional 2" receiver hitch. It has a
vertical jack built in that allows the user to crank
the unit to ground level for loading and tie down and
then can be cranked up and lock into the transport position
for road travel. Unit makes for an easy one man operation.
Unit comes with all hardware and locking pins. One 6"
wide by 72" long composite/fiber-glass bike channel
is included with the RHDC1. Two 5" wide by 72"
long rails are included with the RHDC2. (Tie down straps
are not included.) Unit is made from heavy gauge square
steel tubing and is adjustable to work with different
height hitches. Telescopic support arms extend to 36"
total depth. Ships via UPS or other ground carrier.
The vehicle
must have a hitch height of 12" to 22" measured
from the ground to the top inside of the receiver tube.
The load-carrying arm is clamped onto the jack to set
the lowest point. The jack then has 16" of vertical
travel when cranked up.
When ordering
specify the draw bar length needed. There is no
difference in price.
8" draw bar = 6" from receiver pin to crank
housing*
12" draw bar = 10" from receiver pin to crank
housing*
16" draw bar = 14" from receiver pin to crank
housing*
*
Measured from the center of the receiver pin hole to
the inside of the RHDC1 vertical crank housing. The
actual clearance will depend on where the spare tire
is mounted in relation to the hitch receiver.
The crank
handle travels up and down with the load arms. The distance
from the top of the receiver tube to the bottom of the
crank handle (in horizontal position) is 22" when
the load is at ground level. This distance increases
as the load is cranked up. The crank handle can be flipped
for half cranks until it clears the spare tire.
The main
body is constructed of 3/16" thick steel. The load
arms are constructed of 1/8" thick, 2" square
structural steel tubing and are 36" apart. The
load arm length is adjustable up to 36" (in front
of crank assembly) by changing the position where clamped
onto the crank assembly. The horizontal position of
the motorcycle tray is adjustable by the position that
it is clamped to the load arms. Motorcycle trays are
composite/fiberglass.
